Mattress Topper Reviews - Latex Topper vs Memory Foam Shootout!

Mattress Topper Reviews by Industry Veteran

As a mattress industry veteran of over 35 years the question I get most often is “what is the best mattress topper”? To answer that one has to look at many different scenarios like does the person sleep hot or cold? My mattress topper reviews reveal that conventional memory foam reflects body heat and works well for those who sleep cold, typically women. However the possible chemical smell can sometimes outweigh the benefits of a memory foam topper.

One of the biggest complaints I get when offering up my mattress topper reviews is that of smell. Many of the big box stores sell memory Mattress Toppers that are made in China and most have a nasty chemical smell to them that consumers have reported all kinds of health issues directly after installation. Personally I would not recommend a memory foam mattress topper when I know there is a much better solution.

Of all the mattress toppers out there the one that stands alone at the top of the heap is the latex mattress topper. In all my mattress topper reviews this is the one to beat. No chemical smells, no out-gassing, yet offers that same benefits of memory foam mattress toppers. Latex also reduces pressure points and cradles your body. There is no motion transfer which is a big selling feature of memory foam mattresses. The durability of latex is legendary dating back to the 1950’s when Sears and Monkey Wards started selling “rubber mattresses”.

Which Mattress Topper Reviews Better – Talalay or Dunlop?

Another question I get asked often is which is the best latex mattress topper? There are several varieties on the market from blended talalay and all natural talalay to zoned or non-zoned dunlop latex mattress toppers. A Talalay mattress topper reviews the best in my book although there is no right or wrong decision here. All latex mattress toppers are better than their memory foam counterparts. Personally I prefer the blended talalay as it has proven itself over time to hold up longer than all the rest and in a mattress topper scenario this is important to know. Even Latex International, the maker of both blended talalay and all natural talalay, will back up my beliefs with their own testing proof. Their mattress topper reviews clearly point to blended talalay as the most durable as is evident in them introducing their new Revenite brand “Pillows for the Body” which is mattress terms for kick butt mattress topper.

These latex mattress topper reviews are based on years of experience selling all kinds of mattress toppers including memory foam, eco friendly, wool and latex. I can honestly say to Latex International, job well done! I ran into this new product last month at the Las Vegas Furniture Market and was very impressed then and even more so now that I have received rave reviews from the first customers to purchase these. Not only do they have two firmness choices but the price includes a beautiful cotton/spandex/polyester zippered cover as pictured above. Two Ild’s are available, #19 which is plush and #28 which I would rate as medium although they designate it as “firm”.

After laying on each of these mattress toppers for an extended period of time (one of the benefits of my job) I found that both toppers do exactly what they were designed to do, cushion the body and provide pressure point relief. I would recommend the “plush” configuration for those who are lighter in weight or perhaps sleep mostly on their side and I would utilize the “firm” model for those who perhaps are heavier or prefer sleeping on their backs. Any way you slice it, these two new items are overwhelmingly at the top of my mattress topper reviews.
