Natural and Organic Latex Crib Mattress by Nook Sleep - Review

As a latex mattress specialist we have been overwhelmed throughout the last 12 years with request for latex crib mattresses. We have never sold them because we are not setup to make them ourselves nor have we found a supplier who made them to our standards of excellence. That is until now! Introducing the Pebble Mattress by Nook Sleep.

The Nook Sleep Latex Crib Mattress Difference

Breathable

Why breathability matters

Research shows that a sleep environment rich in oxygen is critical for cognitive and physical development in infants. It also helps them sleep longer and deeper. Nook applies this knowledge in all products by facilitating better airflow in and around the crib and by ensuring smarter temperature regulation at naptime and nighttime.

How Nook does breathability

We employ nature’s highest-performing materials, a carefully controlled fabric weave, and innovative structural designs to foster environments optimized for breathability. In the Pebble Mattress, a breathable natural latex core is covered by a unique airflow layer to promote ventilation while a patented asymmetrical pattern facilitates oxygen flow on the surface. Materials like certified organic cotton, eucalyptus and low-impact dyes facilitate breathability across the entire Nook product line.

The alternative

Standard infant crib mattresses are often comprised of non-porous plastics and synthetics that impede airflow. Even “organic” mattresses do nothing to ensure air circulation through the mattress interior and require non-breathable mattress pads. The Nook Sleep System is the only infant sleep solution designed to ensure consistent oxygen flow over and through every product.

Non-Toxic

Why non-toxicity matters

Most standard mattresses off-gas. Even at miniscule trace levels, toxins can be harmful to developing minds and bodies. Nook uses only non-toxic materials that contribute to both a pure, safe sleep environment and a healthy, responsible production environment.

How Nook does non-toxic

Nook employs absolutely no harsh chemicals or toxins, not in materials, not in manufacturing, not even in packaging. Rather than rely on cheap and easy-to-come-by synthetics, extensive research and testing has led us to natural fire retardants and microbe-resistant fibers to help protect and comfort infants without compromising health benefits.

The alternative

Standard infant crib mattresses are often composed of synthetic materials and fire retardant chemical sprays that can emit airborne toxins, commonly referred to as off-gasses. By making non-toxic mandatory, Nook products offer a cleaner, more breathable, and more comfortable infant sleep system.

Comfortable

Why comfort matters

Comfortable children experience longer, more restful nights of sleep. Which means parents do too. At Nook, comfort is about more than just soft organic cotton sheets and a mattress surface that mimics shapes in nature. Comfort is about the peace of mind parents experience when they know their infant is sleeping safe.

How Nook does comfort

We spare no expense in sourcing and refining the gentlest, most breathable natural materials to promote consistent breathing patterns and steady temperature. Tencel eucalyptus lyocell, certified organic cotton and wool, and recycled polyester are but a few. We also use open knits, low-impact dyes and temperature regulating fibers.

The alternative

Many bedding manufacturers use synthetics to imitate the feel of hard-to-find and expensive natural materials. Manufacturing these synthetics can rely on harsh chemicals, the effects of which can be detected in the nursery as toxic off-gasses. Nook delivers non-toxic comfort beginning on the sleep surface and moving through all layers of product. Infants are surrounded by gentle, all-natural materials providing a comfortable nights’ sleep for the whole family.

Convenient

Why convenience matters

Rested parents are more effective parents. We can’t prevent midnight diaper changes, but we can expedite the clean up process so groggy parents get back to bed faster and less stressed.

How Nook does comfort

At Nook, we design with the whole family in mind. For parents, we use water-resistant and stain-resistant natural fibers that cause liquids to bead on the surface, eliminating the need for mattress pads and making for a quick and easy wipe up, even at 3am. For children, we use a patent pending process to infuse anti-microbial zinc onto fibers, leaving no place for bacteria, fungus, mold or odors to grow. The removable Pebble Wrap zipper is easy to use even with eyes closed.

The alternative

Standard infant mattresses absorb liquids and stains, creating a risk of mold, fungus and bacteria below the mattress surface. Clean up often involves baking soda, a hair dryer, and a lot of elbow grease. Nook is the first infant sleep system to offer a patented wipe-able sleep surface that is also breathable.

Colorful

Why color matters

Great design doesn’t stop at function. Every Nook product, from the Pebble Mattress to the Toddler Pillow, is brightly colored with nature-inspired asymmetrical patterns proven to benefit cognitive development. Parents don’t have to compromise style over a healthy and safe crib.

Considered

Why considered matters

Infants spend the first three-quarters of their lives sleeping. During this growth period they develop critical cognitive and physical abilities. To facilitate this development, Nook relentlessly considers the impact of every material and manufacturing decision in all of our products.

How Nook does considered

Every material, manufacturing process and detail is micro-analyzed to make sure it provides the utmost in breathability, non-toxicity, comfort and convenience. We depend on our Board of scientists, designers, and parents for consistent innovation and new technologies. Nook does not compromise on product standards. If we can’t find the material or process necessary to deliver the healthiest night’s sleep, then we create it ourselves.

The alternative

Standard infant mattresses tend to focus on one benefit: organic, firm, double-sided, hypoallergenic, inexpensive, etc. Nook is the first to consider how we can do all the things necessary to provide the longest, healthiest and safest night’s sleep for infants.
